Wave Beanie Pattern

Materials:
  • 5.5mm crochet hook
  • 4 ply worsted weight yarn (3 colors)
  • Stitch Marker
  • Tapestry Needle 
Abbreviations:
  • st = stitch
  • rnd = round
  • slst = slip stitch
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • sc2tog = single crochet two together
  • sc3tog = single crochet three together
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • tr = treble crochet
  • tr2tog = treble crochet two together
  • tr3tog = treble crochet three together
Notes:

  1. This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. DO NOT JOIN AT THE END OF EACH ROUND. Mark the last st of each round with your st marker.
  2. The crown (increase rounds) is worked in color A.
  3. Color changes occur at the end of every second round.
Special Stitches:
  1. Sc2tog = Insert hook into next st, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook into next st, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. 
  2. Sc3tog = {Insert hook into next hook, yarn over, pull up a loop} 3 times (4 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw yarn through all 4 loops on the hook. 
  3. Tr2tog = Yarn over twice, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop (4 loops on hook), {yarn over, and draw through 2 loops on hook} twice, (2 loops on hook), yarn over twice, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop, {yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook} twice; yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
  4. Tr3tog = Yarn over twice, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop (4 loops on hook), {yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook} twice, (2 loops on hook); *yarn over twice, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop, {yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook} twice; repeat from * once more, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Pattern:
 
With A, ch 5, join with a slst to first ch to form a ring.



Rnd 1: Hdc 10 times into center of ring.
Rnd 2:
2 hdc in each st around.
Rnd 3:
* 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 4:
* 2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 5:
* 2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of the next 3 sts. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 6: * 2 hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in each of the next 4 sts. Repeat from * around to last 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in last st. Change to B.
Rnd 7: Sc in next st and each st around.
Rnd 8:
Sc in next st, * hdc in next st, dc in next st, 3 tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Change to C.
Rnd 9:
Sc2tog, sc in each of the next 2 sts, * 3 sc in next st, sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc3tog, sc in each of the next 2 sts. Repeat from * around to last 2 sts, sc2tog.
Rnd 10:
Repeat rnd 9. Change to A.
Rnd 11:
Tr2tog, * dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, tr3tog. Repeat from * around to last 2 sts, tr2tog.
Rnd 12:
Sc in each st around. Change to B.
Rnd 13:
Sc in each st around.
Rnd 14 - 20:
Repeat rnds 8 to 13, changing colors at the end of every second rnd.
Rnd 21 - 22:
Sc in each st around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
