The Crochet Zombie Bag

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn: Green, Red, White, Gray
3.5 mm Crochet Hook
4.5 mm Crochet Hook
5.5 mm Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
slst = slip stitch
sc2tog = single crochet two together
st = stitch
sts = stitches


Bag:
With green yarn and 5.5mm hook, ch32

Rnd 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, and each ch to last ch. Hdc 3 times in last ch. Hdc down opposite side of    
ch ending with 3 hdc in last ch. Place st marker in last st. (64 sts around)
Rnd 2: Hdc in each st to end, hdc 3 times in center st on end. Hdc down opposite side, 3 hdc in center end st, hdc in last st. Place st marker. (68 sts around)
Rnd 3: Repeat round 2. (72 sts around)
Rnd 4: *This round is worked in back loops only* Hdc in each st around (72 sts around)
Rnd 5 - 24: Hdc in each st around. Bag should measure approx 9.5inches long at the end of round 24. Fasten off green and join red yarn. (72 sts around)
Rnd 25: Using red, join with a slst, sc in each st around, fasten off. (72 sts around)



Straps: (Make 2)
With green yarn and 5.5mm hook, ch 75.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch2, turn.
Row 2: Hdc in each st across, fasten off green and join red. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in each st across. Sc down edge of strap, with 2 sc in each corner.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across and up other edge, with 2 sc in each corner. Fasten off. Leaving long tail for sewing.

Eyeball:
With black yarn and 4.5mm hook, start with a magic circle, and hdc 6 times into ring. Place st marker in last st. Fasten off black and join red. (6 sts)

Rnd 1: 2 sc in each st around. Place st marker. Fasten off and join white. (12 sts)
Rnd 2: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Place st marker. (18 sts)
Rnd 3- 5: Sc in each st around. Place st marker. (18 sts)
Rnd 6: * Sc2tog, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. (12 sts)
Rnd 7: * Sc2tog. Repeat from * around. (6sts)
Fasten off leaving a bit of a tail to sew to vein.

Vein for Eyeball:
With red yarn and 3.5mm hook, ch 20.

Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Eye:
With black yarn and 4.5mm hook ch 2

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place st marker in last st. Fasten off black and join red. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. Place st marker. Fasten off red and join white. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: * 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Place st marker. (18 sts)
Rnd 4: * 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts. Repeat from * around. Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing. (24 sts)





Assembly:

Straps:  For extra sturdiness, you can sew some fabric to the inside of the straps as worsted weight yarn has a tendency to stretch. Once you have added fabric (or not) sew straps to the top of the bag as seen in the photo.

Eyeball and Vein: Sew eyeball  to end of vein that has no tail. Then sew vein to bag  in placement shown in photo.

Eye: Sew eye to bag in the placement in the photo.

Mouth & Scars: Using a simple back stitch and black yarn, sew a mouth of any design to the bottom part of the bag and then with gray or red yarn, sew crooked scars anywhere you choose on the bag.

Once all parts are sewn on, finish weaving in any loose ends and enjoy your new zombie bag!!
